504 Clothman Car Giveaway  1
504 Clothman Car Giveaway, Part 1 2007-2008

“Before anyone leaves here today,” my high school chemistry teacher scolded, “I want your crucible to be as white as Mr. Clean’s shirt.”

I looked at my pitiful crucible in frustration. I had been scrubbing it for five minutes and it still looked more like a poopy diaper than clean shirt. I decided to try something different.

I dumped a bunch of concentrated sulfuric acid into my crucible. I then poured a bunch of concentrated hydrochloric acid into the sulfuric acid. When the two acids came into contact with each other a cloud of noxious gas exploded into my face and ripped through my sinuses like a small nuclear bomb. I instantly crumpled to the floor like a knocked out boxer. For several minutes I felt like someone had scooped all the brains out of my head.

When I staggered to my feet two great things happened. My crucible looked like Mr. Clean’s shirt and I spent the whole next period in the nurse’s station instead of Mrs. Venard’s English class. My efforts exceeded my wildest expectations – much like the Clothman Car Giveaway.

I started this simple service to help folks see their used vehicle do so more than just set idle in the driveway or fetch a tiny trade-in value. They could donate it to a needy individual or family for whom reliable transportation is a matter of survival. Plus, they’d get a nice tax deduction.

I was floored that first year when folks donated 20 vehicles. Then this past last year Clothreaders donated an absolutely staggering 35 vehicles. Can you believe it, 55 vehicles in just two years!!

I wish you could see the faces of those receiving these vehicles. Most are tear-stained as I tell them that this vehicle was donated in love by someone who cares more about others than money and that it is also from God who didn’t forget them in their time of great need. I then pray for them and that this free vehicle will bless their lives with many, many miles of freedom and joy.

Well it is that time of the year when I ask you to make this much more than just a weekly newspaper column – let’s make it a powerful change agent for Western Montana. Join me in this year’s Clothman Car Giveaway.

Please consider donating your vehicle that spends most of its time just setting around in the garage or driveway (working vehicles only). You’ll receive as a tax donation that usually exceeds trade-in value and someone will be blessed beyond words for your generosity.

If you don't have a vehicle to donate, you can really me by making a financial donation to help fill these vehicles with fuel and food. As you can imagine just filling 35 vehicles with today’s fuel prices is very costly. (Thanks as well to all the businesses that their donate services every year.)

To donate vehicles contact me at the address below. To send funds for gas and groceries make your check payable to Clothman Adventures and send it to the same address. Let’s once again exceed my wildest expectations – without using dangerous acids.
